project: Mom's Kitchen ReInvented

Give a girl 6 days, a 50's ranch style outdated kitchen, a limited budget (under $1,000) and a last minute crew (awesome family stepped up to help!) and here's what ya get.
This girl is tired and learned a lot.
This is what I came up with for a limited budget and future plans to change out flooring
and the sliding glass doors, hopefully new cabinets and counter tops
 and updated appliances too.
For now this gave my mom and her husband a kitchen
that can be enjoyed until those future plans take place.
I think they liked it! What do you think?

We painted the cabinets a bright white, painted the walls a blue gray shade to match existing blue counter tops. We changed out the cabinet hardware including hinges! Took out the fluorescent lighting and installed a ceiling fan. (that was fun) I designed an island and my crew made it happen! We took an unfinished oak sink base cabinet, framed it in bead board paneling, put a butcher block top on it and some awesome knobs and bam! a new island! Seating for four with the stools and it's a great place for morning coffee or a quick lunch. This really opened up the space and made it very inviting. This kitchen went from dark and dingy to new and bright!
Mission accomplished!
THANK YOU TO MY AWESOME CREW!!

(and my brother, mom and aunts who kept the kiddos busy and out of our way! love ya!)
