I have been busy painting the basement. It has been dragging on! I just want it to be done so I can decorate already! Between baseball and the garden and the outside work we are trying to get done while it's nice out, the basement has been put on the back burner. I am trying to light a fire under me and just go for it.
So, once the painting is done I am back in the barns at my brother-in-law's digging out the old barn siding that I am using for all the trim in the basement. That would include the baseboards and window/door trim, a bar and a corner wall to mount the flat screen tv onto. I am also trying to pick out some flooring. We are using carpet for the living room and bedrooms but are trying to decide on what we are going to use for the kitchen and bath. It's hard to choose because we are using the barn wood for trim which will butt right up against the flooring. Wood laminate just doesn't go. So I am leaning toward a slate tile. I think that would give it a nice rustic look. The bath I am wanting the tile that looks like wood. We'll see what I come up with.
I will try and keep things more updated as I progress so I can finally show pics of a cool decorated space!! A new house it hard to get pulled together til after you live in it for awhile. Well we've been here a year and I need to get stuff going. So summer, you and I have a date with home projects and of course all the other things on my summer to do list with the family!
